Football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo will earn up to Shs2.2bn per day in a mega contract unveiled by Saudi Arabi Pro League club Al Nassr.
The 37-year-old signed a two-and-a-half-year contract with the Riyadh-based team. According to the figures, the Portuguese superstar will earn up to $200m in salary and endorsement deals.
In a brief breakdown on what that means, he will pocket, in terms of Ugandan shillings, Buli ddakiika Shs1.5m per minute, Shs2.2bn per day, Shs15bn per week and Shs66.2bn per month making him the highest paid athlete in history.
The Portuguese forward left Manchester United last month following an explosive television interview in which the 37-year-old said he felt betrayed by the club and did not respect their Dutch manager Erik ten Hag.
Al Nassr unveiled the deal yesterday on social media noting that Ronaldo will serve as an inspiration not only to the club but also to the nation and future generations to be the best version of themselves.
“This is a signing that will not only inspire our club to achieve even greater success but inspire our league, our nation and future generations, boys and girls to be the best version of themselves,” the club said in a tweet.
Ronaldo reckoned that he conquered Europe.
“I am fortunate that I have won everything I set out to win in European football and feel now that this is the right moment to share my experience in Asia,” Ronaldo said.
“I am looking forward to joining my new team mates and together with them help the Club to achieve success.”
