Shocked Ugandans Demand Answers As Bobi Wine And NUP Members Refuse To Collect Money To Repatriate The Body Of Their Fallen Lawyer Anthony Wameli Who Died In USA Due To Cancer.

The family of the late Anthony Wameli, the former Diaspora legal head for the National Unity Platform (NUP) Party, is in dire need of help to bring his body back to Uganda for a proper burial after being stuck in the United States for several weeks.

Despite reaching out to NUP leadership, and Robert Kyagulanyi, aka Bobi Wine, for assistance, their requests have gone unanswered. As a result, they have turned to President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for help, hoping to receive the support they need to lay their loved one to rest.

Following Wameli’s sudden death on February 8, 2023, the family immediately informed NUP’s top leadership to initiate the processes required to return his body to Uganda. However, the party leadership failed to act, leaving the family to bear the financial burden alone.

With the costs of repatriation totaling around two hundred million shillings, the family has expressed frustration and disappointment in NUP leadership for making empty promises and failing to support them during this challenging time.

In a recent interview with a local TV station, Kyagulanyi called on NUP supporters and well-wishers to contribute towards the costs of repatriation. But for the late Wameli’s family, this is not enough, and they are now seeking the help of President Museveni.

The situation has caused outrage among the public, who have criticized NUP leadership for their inability to prioritize the needs of their fallen colleague’s family. Many are questioning why the party leadership can afford luxury lifestyles, including expensive houses and customized bulletproof cars, yet fail to provide the necessary support to repatriate their colleague’s body.

As the family awaits a response from President Museveni, many are hoping that their desperate plea for help will not go unheard, and that the late Anthony Wameli will soon be laid to rest in his home country.
