Viana Indi is the latest addition to the NBS After 5 crew, replacing Sheilah Gashumba who recently joined NRG Radio.
The crew, which is comprised of DJ Roja, Douglas Lwanga, MC Kats, and DJ Mercy, was left with no female co-host following Gashumba’s departure.
But Indi told this reporter over a phone conversation Monday afternoon that she officially started co-hosting the entertainment show, which now airs on both NBS and Sanyuka TV, at the start of March.
The self-proclaimed VybQueen is familiar with the show, as she would do ‘sit-ins’ once in a while.
Indi, who is also an event emcee, started her media career with NTV’s T-Nation in 2021 as an intern.
She would leave to join NBS TV’s Saturday Night Live (SNL), which became a smash hit during the Covid-19 lockdown.
Indi, who has left her radio hosting gig at Galaxy FM, will also be co-hosting NBS Katchup, another entertainment show on the Naguru-based TV station.
Meanwhile, NRG Radio, which is owned by Kenyan businessman Kevin Mulei, has poached some top talent, including Zamn Zion, DJ VX Faisal, Sheila ‘Salta’ Saltofte, Etania Mutoni, and Marcus Kwikiriza.
It has, however, come under social media scrutiny, with some questioning whether most of these people they picked from TV will be a good suit for radio.
Because of the flashy environment at the radio station that is characterized by the frequent cutting of cakes, some people have nicknamed the station Bakery Radio.
NRG Radio is a subsidiary of NRG Radio Kenya, which was founded in 2018.
