Social commentator Frank Gashumba doesn’t like people who resort to religious texts when they want to make irresponsible claims.
“The people I fear most are those who back their arguments with Biblical citations. I fear such a person a lot. I can’t even bother arguing with them,” while appearing on Radio 4 recently.
“Such a person’s understanding is micro. A person who can’t apply common sense, and only relies on religious text.”
When the host asked if he was just trying to be controversial, Gashumba reminded him: “When new religious denominations were being introduced in Africa, didn’t they find our ancestors? They successfully undermined our traditional religions and sold us theirs.”
According to Gashumba, “Colonialism was introduced through different means, it even used the Bible.”
The mouthy businessman is not one to shy away from bombatic statements. He recently castigated mean men. Ironically, he used the Bible.
“Men who don’t give deserve death. Because the Bible and the Qur’an specifically stipulate that women must be supported. Women must be given/supported. There is nothing that makes a girl happy than receiving a Mobile Money message before she even asks for the money,” he said said while appearing on SheTalk, a television program hosted by Mildred Tracy, Diane Nabimanya and Sandra Lian on Sanyuka TV.
Nabimamya and Lian agreed with him in unison, saying such men are special.
Speaking on women exercising dating options, the social commentator said that a woman is free to date multiple men until one of them practically shows that he is interested in exclusiveness.
“Any girl that has no ring, your boyfriend has never visited your home, has never been introduced, there is nothing stopping her from having four boyfriends,” he said.
