Justice Keneth Kakuru, 65, is dead. Kakuru has passed on after a number of days in critical condition at Aga Khan Hospital, Nairobi.
He is remembered to have been the only judge out of a 5-member panel that voted against the amendment of the Constitution that lifted the presidential age limit.
In the evening of his death, Kakuru had a number of frustrations in the legal space.
Last year, he publicly expressed frustration with the delayed delivery of the judgment by the Constitutional Court on an application challenging the compensation of Shillings 142billion to businessman, Hassan Basajjabalaba.
Kakuru now becomes the third high profile Ugandan to die in 2023.
He dies following deaths of Anthony Wameli, a top legal brain who succumbed to cancer in the United States, and John Nagenda, a senior Presidential advisor on Media.
