Musician Sadam Ayire, better known as Vyper Ranking, has a lot of bad things to say about TV personality MC Kats, real name Edwin Katamba.
It all started when Ranking got an opportunity to be interviewed by Kats on NBS After 5.
Through one Drake, Kats agreed on a swap deal to host Ranking. Drake had a strong network in the African media industry.
So, when they asked for an interview, Kats asked Drake to promote Fille Mutoni’s songs on Soundcity TV, Trace TV, and some other TV channels.
Drake agreed. “We were hungry,” Ranking recalled.
“The person I will never forget is MC Kats. I will surely never forget him. Sometimes I even dream about him. He became a nightmare to me,” Ranking said while talking to media personality Henry Arinaitwe, popularly known as Mr. Henrie.
“It’s hard to believe. So, I think we met him through a guy called Drake. He used to help musicians market their music on international platforms.”
Kats suggested that instead of using the studio, he would interview Ranking from the street because he liked his “vibe”.
Kats told them they would do the interview from Liquid Silk Naalya.
On arrival, Kats wasn’t there.
“He was like, man, your musician is proud. Tell him to get a Boda and find me at Wave [Lounge],” Kats told Ranking’s manager over the phone.
Said Ranking: “I got a Boda and rushed to Wave, at around 5-6pm.”
Still, Kats wasn’t there.
Ranking decided to wait at Wave Lounge since his phone battery run out of juice.
His colleagues came and picked him up from Wave to find Kats, who was now at Acacia Mall.
“When we arrived, he looked at me and said, you told me it’s a female musician, now I’m seeing a man,” Vyper Ranking recalled.
Kats first quarreled with them before leaving to smoke. When he returned, said Ranking, without giving them notice, he counted to three so they can go live.
Vyper Ranking said Kats tormented him during the interview.
“What are you saying? Say things people can understand,” Ranking said Kats told him after he introduced himself to the viewers.
On that very day, Ranking was to feature on NBS Katchup. The host of the show was away, so MC Kats was told to take over.
Ranking found himself in the hands of Kats again. It was another clusterfuck, according to Ranking.
The Katchup interview was held at Wave after which they set off to meet Ziza Bafana at Chief Club in Bukoto.
On arrival, Kats asked Ranking where the cameraman was, and he said he didn’t know. This pissed off Kats who tried to choke Ranking.
“He told me, do you know I can beat you?” Ranking said of the incident, adding that Kats used curse words to insult him.
Meanwhile, Vyper Ranking recently released a song with Winnie Nwagi, which to some makes him a friend of Swangz Avenue. Kats has recently said disturbing things about Julius Kyazze, one of the directors at the record label. One could argue that Ranking may have spiced up some of the information. Kats is yet to speak on the matter.
