Songstress Nina Kankunda, aka Nina Roz, opened up about her romance with music producer Andrew Ojambo, alias Daddy Andre.
Roz, who was speaking to Galaxy TV’s Henry Arinaitwe, popularly known as Mr. Henrie, said they had intended to keep their Kukyala ceremony secret, but she was shocked when TV host Douglas Lwanga shared pictures on social media.
“I don’t know how he came out publicly because we hid them. Because all of you never got to know about them,” Roz said.
Henrie: “You tried.”
Roz: “First person I see posting was my boss Douglas [Lwanga], I’m like, oh lord, have mercy.”
Henrie: “So, what pushed you to do it with him?”
Roz: “This is why I’m telling you, I didn’t know what was right at that time. I don’t want to blame anyone. I was just healing from depression. I was looking for solace. A place that’s safe, where I can be with a person that I can trust with my career, with my life. My dreams!
“In our world, you can’t manage on your own, you need a support system. We deal with a lot of people whose intentions we don’t know.”
Henrie: “The heart had chosen him? Did you feel like it was love?”
Roz: “The heart wants what it wants. That’s what it wanted. I wanna accept that. That’s what I wanted. That’s who I really wanted… I’m not gonna say I wasn’t proud of it all. He was a good person regardless.
“When I was with him he taught me a lot. He prepared me to be the woman you are seeing today.”
Henrie: The relationship was very short-lived, eh?”
Roz: “That’s what people think, but it was long-lived. You only saw what we chose to show you. That’s where it gets wrong with our kind of job…”
Henrie: “When is the last time you talked to him?”
Roz: “You are my neighbour. You will visit me and I will tell you.”
Andre and Roz dated and did music together.
