Swangz Avenue co-director Benon Mugumbya finally broke his silence following claims by MC Kats that Julius Kyazze turned him against his former music partner Vampino.
Mugumbya, a renowned music producer, sang alongside Vampino, real name Elvis Kirya, in the early stages of his music career.
In a recent media interview, Kats asserted that Swangz Avenue was Vampino’s brainchild but he is surprised he is not a shareholder. Kats believes Kyazze orchestrated the move to kick Vampino out of the deal.
According to Mugumbya, people who know the whole story are aware of the facts, so he finds no value in involving himself in the bickering.
“There are things I don’t want to get involved in because all people involved know the truth. So, I don’t want to get involved in debates of his word against mine,” he said.
“There is no value it brings to me as an individual or the company.”
Kats first expressed his grievances with Kyazze in December of last year when he said he had gone to Swangz Avenue to request them to allow Winnie Nwagi to perform at an event his non-profit, MC Kats Foundation, had organised.
Kats, who expected Swangz Avenue to let Nwagi perform for free because of the favors he had previously done for Kyazze, was shocked when they asked him to pay Shs2.5 million.
While this enraged Kats, people who talked to Kyazze, have said that the price they gave to Kats was lower compared to what they normally charge others who want to book Nwagi.
