President Museveni has scoffed at western countries for trying to impose their cultures on other countries by promoting homosexuality and using forceful means among them.
Museveni who made the remarks during an address to Parliament on Thursday, March 16 2023 said homosexuals are deviations from the normal.
“On the issue of homosexuals, we shall get time and discuss the matter thoroughly. The homosexuals are deviations from normal. Is it by nature or by nurture? We need to answer those questions. We need a medical opinion on that,” he said.
Museveni added: “Western countries should stop wasting their time trying to impose their cultures on us. Europeans and other groups marry cousins and near relatives. Here, marrying within one’s clan is taboo. Should we impose sanctions on them for marrying relatives? This is not our job. That is none of our concern. Sex in Uganda and other parts of the country is confidential, even heterosexuality. How do we know that you are a homosexual unless you publicise it? We shall discuss all this.”
During the address, President Museveni directed the Statehouse Controller to send sh5m to each of the families of the four students that died in the accident at Kasaka Secondary School in Gomba district and sh1m each to the 14 students that were injured.
The President also emphasised during the address that the new Government programme, the Parish Development Model (PDM), which is meant to alleviate poverty at the parish level, must work at all costs. He said all people trying to steal the money will be dealt with.
“The Parish Development Model is about how to make money in a small area with a product or products that have got national, regional, and international demand. Stop looking side and side; PDM must work. The Emyooga must work,” he said.
He added: “I will decisively follow up on the attempted stealing of the PDM and Emyooga money in Acholi. If they tampered with that money, they will pay for that treachery.”
