Kampala Woman MP Shamim Malende said they were able to convince police to extend the police bond of TV presenter Ibra K Mukasa.
Mukasa, who spent the better part of Monday at Kawempe Police Station, had been told to report to the station again today as he continues to battle a defamation case.
But after reporting to the police, the MP said, they were able to secure more days so he is out of the holding cell until April 4.
“We spent today morning at Kawempe Police station with our comrade friend Ibra K Mukasa. We managed to have his police bond extended until 4th April 2023,” Malende posted on Facebook Tuesday afternoon.
“Thanks counsel Owori, Matovu, comrades Kaye Wisdom, Edris, Mugoya, Ssenabulya, Harold and all his fans.”
Mukasa has been charged with the offense of criminal defamation. He is said to have defamed a TikToker known as Godfather.
The TikToker, who goes by Godfather.ug, says Mukasa claimed that he defiled his sister.
Godfather posted on Facebook: “I think I have been so lenient, parenting, forgiving and kind enough to this man and his clue following their frequent saturating videos and police reference upon me concerning incest, defilement and robbery but the boy and clues have failed to notice that I left him for that time because everyone makes mistakes but a mistake repeated is an agenda not a mistake.
“Being that the saturating police reference he claims I defiled my own sisters is from KMPN, I have therefore cried for Legal intervention into this matter from the very police so that the very police investigates these allegations to find out who is wrong and who is not. Am a very busy businessman who respects time and so I had let it go for the interest of time because no man can bring me down due to the fact that I made my self no man made me but it seems man has unsorted issues now for four months where need be must be sorted.”
