Namulondo met the songstress, who professionally goes by Rema, when she was still under Bebe Cool’s record label Gagamel Crew.
“I met her in Gagamel,” said Namulondo during a recent interview. “She had just sung Oli Wange. I saw her and I was like, this girl! Remember, Rema is very, very young. And I was like, this bubbly young girl is really talented.”
She added: “So, I looked for her, and they told me she is in Gagamel. I started going to Gagamel and I would see her. Then she was a backup singer.”
Asked what pushed her to want to associate with the songstress whose real name is Rehema Namakula, she said: “I think God had already told me that Rema is a good person. Because I saw her on TV… God always speaks through me and something told me she is a good person.”
She added: “And when we met I wasn’t disappointed. She is a good person. Well-behaved. And she loved people.”
On how they’ve been able to maintain their friendship this long, Evelyn Namulondo said: “Trusting each other and respecting each other. And loving each other. Yes.”
Rema and Namulondo have known each other since the former was still under Bebe Cool’s record label Gagamel Crew. In 2013, the Sili Muyembe singer unceremoniously left the label for a solo career. She left Gagamel when during the period she was dating Eddy Kenzo who also played a huge role in uplifting her music career. Her relationship with Kenzo lasted about six years.
Last week Namulondo was seen hanging out with the Sitya Loss singer, prompting some netizens to question her loyalty. But Namulondo said she looks at Rema and Kenzo as sister and brother respectively.
