Ugandans on Twitter have embarked on media campaigns to expose the ‘poor’ service delivery in the country.
One of these digital campaigns dubbed #UgandaHealthExhibition (Spearheaded by Academic Dr Spire Sssentongo) started with similar hashtag on potholes on Ugandan roads, which has since left Social Media buzzing with different eye-witnesses sharing content showing the disturbing state of medical facilities.
Through Direct Messages to Dr Ssentongo, one of the concerned – a medic, narrated an incident under which 8 patients died within 12 hours under his/her hands as an Intern Doctor, at a time when there was shortage of staff at Kiruddu National Referral Hospital due to a strike by senior doctors which lasted for “weeks”
This confession and media campaigns altogether come at a time when Intern Doctors are protesting Health Ministry’s failure to deploy them to government hospitals.
