Pinky said her short-lived marriage was marred by violence. Pinky, real name Rahma Nanyanzi, married a 50-year-old man when she was 16. Previous reports have only identified the man as Prince.
The songstress said he would beat her, deny her access to her phone and force her to make love to him.
When he was leaving the house, he would lock her inside.
“I was 16… I was young,” Pinky told Galaxy T.V.’s Mr. Henrie during an interview.
“If I had been a little older, it would have been easy to decide whether to stay in the marriage or just get money and move on,” she went on.
“He would lock me in the house as he is leaving.”
Asked whether she reported the matter to the police, she said: “I didn’t think about that at the moment, because I thought the police wouldn’t help.
“I wanted to die. There was a lot of violence.”
She said he would ask her to pour water on herself and flog her.
“I don’t wanna cry here. There was a lot that I dealt with,” she said, adding that at some point he used to pull a gun on her.
According to reports, Pinky, who completed Form Six from London College Nansana, met the man during her Senior Six vacation and her parents forced her to marry him.
He promised to take her to the U.S. for further studies and support her music career. But things would go south in a short time. The marriage was faked because it was a prerequisite for going to the U.S.
