Singer David Lutalo has had his share of love troubles through his music career and still struggles to this day, to anchor himself in a relationship.
The Kwasa singer, now 37 years old, is open about his shortcomings when it comes to finding love, but remains hopeful.
In an interview with Ruth Kalibbala this week, Lutalo says lady-luck has eluded him in his pursuit for love, even though he is a dad of two.
“Love and having children are two different things; having many kids does not mean you are in love,” he says.
“Inside of me, there is so much love that Ugandan (women) have not touched even half of,” he says.
Over the years, Lutalo says he has met so many people, who unfortunately don’t meet his standard. Some, he says, are good looking and humble but often turn out to be “pretenders.”
“Then, there are those who check all the boxes, but they are too crazy, and in the end, there is no way I am settling for marriage with a crazy person.”
Asked about his priorities in a love relationship, Lutalo said, sex comes top of the list. Under no circumstances, the singer said, can he proceed to fall in love with a person he has never slept with.”
“I can’t take love forward without tasting to know the situation,” he said.
“You have to know, and it cannot be once or twice. I always give it several chances before making a decision. Going in once might be misleading…trying something out once is not enough for you to decide.”
The singer also says he considers cleanliness and organisation to be very important in a relationship and a deal breaker for those who don’t maintain good personal hygiene.
A born of Luwero district, Lutalo broke onto the music scene in 2008 with his hit single ‘Kapapaala’, and has several solo songs to his name as well as several collaborations.
