Kato Lubwama, a celebrated actor, filmmaker and media entrepreneur, died on Wednesday, June 7.

Both Lubwama and Ichuli played a critical role in the growth of Kasuku’s YouTube channel.

On Kasuku Live, which now counts 105k subscribers, Isaac Katende hosted them to do social commentary.

You can hardly find a Ugandan who has used social media that’s not watched a clip from their conversations which were always informative and witty.

After the news of Kato Lubwama was announced, Kasuku’s fans took to social media to wonder how he could be feeling.

Others wanted to know where he was, as he was quiet on social media.

He then visited Kato Lubwama’s home for the vigil.

Speaking to newsmen, he said: “… things are not easy, but I’m alive… I’ve seen those who have been sympathising with me. I keep asking myself how to fill that gap.”

Speaking about Kato Lubwama, he said: “Uncle Kato was a good storyteller.”

According to Kasuku, Lubwama had introduced the idea of having their interactions become as organic as possible.

That he had told him that whenever he sees him, he [Kasuku] should start recording right away.

He wanted their videos to have a raw feel.

“He was the sort of person who didn’t live life by age, he was flexible with the way he does things. he would treat you the way you are,” said Kasuku.

Jenkins Mukasa, a music analyst, who is friends with both Lubwama and Kasukau, said about Lubwama: “We need realistic people, those who say things as they are… we don’t want those who pretend that everything is okay”

Kato Lubwama is expected to take place on Wednesday, June 14 at his ancestral home in Nkozi, Mpigi, where he will be laid to rest, next to his father.
