Former Blu*3 songstress Jackie Chandiru is in no haste to have children of her own. At 38 years, Chandiru doesn’t feel prepared for that kind of responsibility. She still struggles with self confidence, she’s not financially stable and most importantly, she hasn’t found the right man, or even a sperm donor that’s a real fancy.
“I know… but things are not easy,” she told Ruth Kalibbala when asked about her former bandmates Cindy and Lillian, who are both mothers.
“You cannot wake up in the morning, scale up a tree and pick a sperm donor,” she said.
“Besides, If you see the men I like…they have contorted faces. So I look at my nose, and look at this man with a contortion on his face, and I am like, no!”
The talented singer was in an hour of rehabilitation centers, as she strained to withdraw from a potent opioid called Pethidine.
The addition brought the “Gold Digger” singer to the verge of death, as she made several suicide attempts. She also lost the love and affection of her family including her mother, and her Dutch husband, Nol Van Vliet divorced her.
With all this in mind, Chandiru says, she cannot imagine herself falling in love, giving birth and raising a child in her current state.
“Besides, I have always been principled on certain things; even during the time when I was at the peak of my addiction, I never ever used my body. There was a time when I went nearly three years without being with a man. It is quite possible that I regained my virginity.”
Although men are still hitting on her, Chandiru says, she hasn’t built interest yet. She also says she’s still in touch with her ex-husband, whom he chats with every now and then.
