Bebe Cool surprised Next Media employees at an event organised by the company to mark its 15-year anniversary. He grabbed the mic while on stage, and after treating them to some of his moving songs, he thanked the station for supporting him during his artistic journey in Uganda.
Bebe Cool lauded Kin Kariisa, the founder and CEO of NBS TV, for never ignoring the arts and entertainment business in their path of progress.
“For all these 15 years, I have journeyed with NBS TV, and I believe I was the first artist to collaborate with NBS TV,” he said.
He expressed his gratitude to Kariisa for being a pillar of support and noted that greatness demands teamwork while expressing his pride at being a part of the NBS adventure.
Bebe Cool also urged the NBS TV producers to give priority to creating stories that are favourable to the arts and entertainment sectors. He stressed that these stories help artists sustain their families and maintain their financial well-being.
“We educate, promote, and develop through the media. Let’s work together to promote the arts business more,” Bebe Cool said while acknowledging the media’s role in promoting growth and success in the arts.
While giving an address, Kariisa said Next Media Services, or NBS in particular, has revolutionised the media industry and at the same time shaped the narrative.
“In the last 16 years, we have changed the narrative, including influencing memes and sayings that people use on social media and in their everyday lives,” he said.
He added: “We have shaped the narrative to the extent that in parliament, plenary has ever been stopped to watch NBS investigates before making a decision on an issue. We have influenced policy and business in this country. And many other things.”
The Next Media Services CEO and founder also pointed out three factors that have propelled the company to greater heights.
These, he said, include People, Digital migration, and COVID-19.
“Three factors have helped us move to new heights. People, the digital migration, and COVID-19 helped us get noticed because people had a lot of time on them because of the lockdown,” he said.
NBS TV continues to be dedicated to exhibiting a variety of artists and narratives from the arts and entertainment sectors as it marks its 15-year anniversary. They continue to contribute to the expansion and development of Uganda’s cultural environment by boosting the voices of artists like Bebe Cool.
