“If Namukadde Cindy Wants To Battle Me, Let Her Come To My YOLO Festival At Kololo!!” Nakyeyombekedde Sheebah Lashes Out.

Musical artist Sheebah Karungi has spoken out about her expectations for the upcoming Yolo festival. In a recent video she posted on her Instagram, Karungi explicitly sends out a verbal invitation to the public, her fans, and the music industry to attend the festival. Does this mean fellow artist and current rival Cindy Sanyu is allowed?

Speculations aside, Karungi has revealed that the YOLO festival is a non-discriminatory event garnered towards celebrating entertainment in the music industry.

Yolo, an acronym for “You Only Live Once”, is also the title of one of Karungi’s songs. The acronym and phrase is a ‘devil may care’ attitude towards life and experiences directed at getting the most fun and positive rewards from living.

Karungi announced the festival over a month ago and slotted it for 15th September. According to Karungi, the festival is an outdoor cultural celebration of music.

“Yolo festival. This is a never before seen festival. It is not my concert, it is nobody’s concert. It is a festival for everyone. My fans Sheebaholics, come and let’s have fun. Fans of all artists, come let’s have fun. It is about celebrating us (artists) and celebrating you. So this Yolo festival is about you my fans, and our fans, and the music industry, and entertainment,” Karungi says during a Q&A meeting.

Karungi and Sanyu are still deadset on holding their separate events at the same venue and on the same day. The two artists also sit on different current organisations for musicians in the country.

Karungi is the vice president of the newly formed Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF) while Sanyu is the president of the Uganda Musicians Association (UMA) which has been running for about two years.
