National Unity Platform (NUP) leader Robert Kyagulanyi, popularly known as Bobi Wine, has called upon all Ugandans to unite in prayer for the health of Kawempe North MP Muhammed Ssegirinya. The first-time legislator’s condition has taken a downturn in recent weeks.
Ssegirinya, who has experienced health challenges since his release from prison, where he spent nearly two years on charges linked to killings in Masaka, has been in and out of the hospital. His recent appearance at the launch of NUP headquarters at Makerere Kavule raised concerns as he looked frail and slim.
Expressing his concern, Bobi Wine urged the nation to send prayers for Ssegirinya’s well-being. During a recent visit to Bobi Wine’s office, the Kawempe North lawmaker shared the struggles he has faced since leaving prison, emphasizing the deterioration of his health.
“Wishing our brother Hon. Ssegirinya Muhammad a quick and full recovery. When he came in to see me at the office a few weeks back, I could see he had lost a lot of weight. He told me that his health has been deteriorating from the time he came out of prison, where he spent close to two years,” stated Bobi Wine.
Acknowledging the efforts of the medical team, Bobi Wine emphasized the importance of continued prayers for Ssegirinya’s recovery.
Bobi Wine’s call for solidarity follows a visit by Speaker of Parliament Anita Annet Among to Ssegirinya at Nsambya Hospital in Kampala. After the visit, Speaker Among conveyed her wishes for a swift recovery and praised Ssegirinya’s strength and determination throughout the challenging period.
“I am delighted to announce that Ssegirinya has made a remarkable recovery. His strength and determination throughout this challenging period has been truly commendable,” said Speaker Among.
Expressing gratitude to the medical team and everyone supporting Ssegirinya, Speaker Among looks forward to his return to serving the community with renewed energy.
It’s worth noting that Ssegirinya’s health had deteriorated a few months ago, leading his family to arrange for him to receive medical attention abroad.
