“They stopped me from attending Kyabazinga wedding because muhoozi was also to be there” – Bobi Wine Regrets Missing Historic Bosoga Royal Wedding

In a surprising turn of events, opposition leader Bobi Wine expressed his disappointment at being denied entry to the historic Bosoga royal wedding, despite making a special trip back home from abroad.

According to him, the invitation extended by the Katukiro (Prime Minister) of Busoga and his subsequent efforts to attend were thwarted at the last minute due to the presence of First Son, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba.

Speaking on Sunday during the commemoration of the deadly Kampala Riots of November 2020, Bobi Wine revealed, “I was in fact out of the country, but I made sure to be back home on November 17 at night to be able to attend the wedding, but at the very last minute, I was informed that Mr. Museveni and his son and their security had put an order that I cannot be at that function.”

Despite missing the significant event, Bobi Wine extended his congratulations to the Bosoga royals and the local community on the joyous occasion. He conveyed well-wishes to the Kyabazinga and Mama, expressing hopes for a happy and fruitful marriage.

Bobi Wine, who had gone to the extent of purchasing a brand new suit for the occasion, humorously remarked, “I missed it so bad, but the next time I go to Busoga, I will put on that suit.”

The Bosoga royal wedding, the first of its kind since 1954, took place at Christ Cathedral in Bugembe, with the reception held at the newly refurbished Igenge Palace.

I was in fact out of the country, but I made sure to be back home on November 17 at night to be able to attend the wedding, but at the very last minute I was informed that Mr Museveni and his son and their security had put an order that I cannot be at that function.”

I missed it so bad, I had bought a brand new suit, but the next time I go to Busoga I will put on,” he added.

“I want to congratulate the Kyabazinga and Mama on that auspicious occasion. We congratulate the people of Busoga and wish the King and Queen a happy and fruitful marriage,” he said.
