On September 30th, Faridah Nakazibwe marked the end of an era as she bid farewell to NTV Uganda, concluding an impressive 17-year stint at the Serena-based station. As one of the pioneers when NTV Uganda first went on air in December 2006, Nakazibwe had become a familiar face to viewers over the years.
During her tenure at NTV, Nakazibwe served as the newsreader for the weekly 7 pm Luganda news segment ‘Akawungeezi’ and also took on the role of hosting the morning show, ‘Mwasuze Mutya.’
Contrary to expectations that Nakazibwe would pursue opportunities elsewhere, possibly following in the footsteps of her former co-newsreader, Frank Walusimbi, she surprised many by opting to embark on her own ventures. Sources close to her, preferring anonymity, revealed that Nakazibwe felt fatigued and believed it was the opportune moment to step away from her television role.
Nakazibwe’s daily routine at NTV, starting at 7 am and encompassing show preparation, news editing, and hosting ‘Akawungeezi’ at 7 pm, had taken its toll. Despite her demanding schedule, she had leveraged her name and fame to secure personal endorsements from brands like OMO, Sumz, and Chipper Cash, thanks to her substantial following on social media.
These endorsements proved lucrative, surpassing her rumored monthly salary of below 5 million Ugandan Shillings. In addition to her endorsements, Nakazibwe, a mother of two beautiful girls, also owns a successful YouTube channel.
Post-NTV, Nakazibwe decided to focus on her endorsements while collaborating with Comfort Homes, a real housing estate involved in building, renting, and selling houses. Leveraging her connections with Maria’s Bridal and Kushona Designers, she has ventured into the events industry, specializing in decorations for parties and events.
Friends close to Nakazibwe share that she now relishes the freedom to check on her mother regularly, spend quality time with her daughters, and pursue personal interests at her own pace. As she embarks on this new chapter, Nakazibwe’s departure from NTV marks not an end, but a fresh beginning filled with exciting prospects and entrepreneurial pursuits.
