7-Year-Old Girl With Melted Face Who Suffered Burns In Acid Attack Meant For Her Mum Undergoes First Surgery In India

Julie Kumari, the 7-year-old girl with melted face who suffered burns in acid attack meant for her mum, has been given hope as she will undergo first surgery in India. Her father, Manish, in a jealous rage, had thrown the substance at her mother and her new husband, Heera Lal, but Julie was sleeping next to her and it landed on her as well as Heera.

The result of that horrific attack left Julie with burns on her face, arm, neck and chest. Julie’s mother, Rani Devi, 31, said: ‘It’s been devastating watching her suffer all these years. It used to hurt her to eat, talk and smile. Everything was a struggle for her. And it killed me inside that I couldn’t help her.’

Heera eventually died from the acid attack after suffering 60 per cent burns to his body. As for Julie, she suffered 40 per cent burns which affected the majority of her upper body. Rani said: ‘She couldn’t do anything. It broke my heart to watch her every day.

I lost my husband, I didn’t want to lose my daughter too. I cried every night seeing my daughter in that condition. I desperately wanted her to get better. But my financial condition didn’t allow me to help my child.’
