An angry mob has allegedly necklaced and stoned to death a 20 year old suspected criminal. Police say the suspect had a pending case of murder, attempted murder and rape. Police spokesperson says each time he was arrested he would be released on bail and that angered the community. The Fruit Market was on Thursday night turned into a horror scene. Some of the visible traumatised fruit vendors had to go home early as the suspect was murdered right in front of them.
Usually fruit vendors work throughout the night. “We have had it with the gruesome evil in our community and if the police are not ready to intervene, then we have no choice but to help ourselves because we are no longer safe in our own community.”
Her sister Zenzo Mthethwa said he was abducted in the early hours ofThursday morning, taken to the stream and stoned to death. “The holes in her head showed they had killed him with rocks,” Mthethwa said. She said one of the perpetrators dropped his cellphone. They gave it to police, who tracked down the owner, who claimed it had been stolen from him.
