Earlier this year ,Museveni turned the heat on the police force following the killing of one of its most senior officers and two juniors, asking it to “clean up your house” and warning that the institution is “also contributing to the killing of our people.” While eulogizing the Fallen Assistant Inspector General of police Andrew Felix Kaweesi at the latter’s home, President Museveni said that the police force has been infiltrated by criminals.
“Kale, you must clean up the police especially the CID,” he told Inspector General of Police Kale Kayihura.
It is indicated that after police chief failed to take action, the commander in chief summoned his military intelligence boys to help him and investigate the cases dying before police and bring the culprits to books.
Results of part of the assignments given to military Intelligence officers were today Friday shown in the Makindye based Military court martial where several police officers were charged with kidnap of a Rwanda National.
Suspects SCP Joel Aguma; Nixon Agasirwe, Abel Tumukunde, James Magada , Faisal Katende, Benon Atwebembeire, Amon Kwarisiima, Rene Rutagungira and Bahati Mugenga are charged with kidnapping former body guard of Rwanda president Paul Kagame; Joel Mutabazi
Among the nine suspects, three including Aguma have been remanded to Makindye barracks detention facility while Agasirwe and five others were remanded to Luzira Maximum Prison.
The court has been adjourned until 20th November 2017.
