Why Frank Gashumba was arrested by CMI after a comprehensive search in his home

Activist Frank Gashumba together with his brother Innocent Kasumba who were arrested by operatives of the Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence (CMI) after a comprehensive search his residence in Bunga has been allegedly found in possession of illegal drugs cocaine, maruijuana and fake passports.

The officers now say they found with him among others packets of cocaine, stacks of marijuana and fake passports in his name.

According to Army spokesperson, Brigadier Richard Karemire, Gashumba is being held for reportedly impersonating a Defence Ministry official to obtain money by false pretense.

The arrest of the duo followed a whistle-blowers report to the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Defense about a group that was planning to fleece an investor disguising as MODVA officials.

“The fraudsters under the cover of a company named Flagship Group purported to be contracted by MODVA for out sourcing had invited the investors to Golden Tulip Hotel in Nakasero for a meeting over a purported deal to supply UPDF with hundreds of Military Trucks,” Akiiki revealed.
