6 people died instantly in a fatal accident at wakisaanyi Kiryandongo district along Kampala -Gulu highway. According to Charles Ssembabulide the traffic police spokesperson, the accident involved a bus registration number UAQ 045Q belonging to HMK Company which was traveling from Kampala to Gulu and a Prado registration number UAY727Q from Gulu heading to Kla.
He said “It all happened when the prado tried to overtake three motor vehicles in a row and collided head on with the bus which was moving to the opposite direction.” Five of the 6 occupants in the prado died on spot.
The deceased have been identified as Robert Ssuubi Irumba of Kireka Wakiso,Moses Mukwaya of Njeru town council Buyikwe district and Ronald Twebembeire a police officer who allegedly was driving the Prado.
Ssembabulide also said that there are two bodies of male adults who are not yet identified adding that “One person also not yet identified is in Kiryandongo hosp and all the bodies are in Kiryandongo hospital mortuary“.
According to the statement issued by Ssembabulide, “The bus went off road and fell on its left side. No injuries registered among the passengers in the bus.
