Musician YKee Benda has distanced himself from the 6th annual Hipipo Music Awards slated for Saturday March 17th 2018 at Kampala Serena Hotel. The CEO of the Mpaga Records has urged his fan base not to waste their time and data bundles voting for him.
The singer has been nominated in the category of The East Africa’s Best Breakthrough artist but seems not to be interested. Various artists in the Uganda’s music fraternity are continuing to question the credibility of the music awards that are aimed at celebrating given works of various celebrities in a given year as an appreciation for their good works.
The irregularities within the organizers in the awarding process is forcing artists to undermine the credibility of the awards. YKee Benda is the latest artist to announce his withdraw from the awards after Singer Bebe Cool resigned from the initiative in 2016.

According to artists, it is alleged that organizers of the Hipipo awards are biased to the extent of accepting money for the awards from big artists thus scooping them undeservedly at the expense of others. We are yet to ascertain the reactions from the organizers of the awards in relation to the singer’s move to quit the Awards.
