Uganda Peoples Defence Forces (UPDF) have estimated to have killed 100 Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) rebels in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo after it carried out the attack on its bases.
In its official statement issued by the UPDF spokesperson on 27th December 2017 it claimed over 100 terrorists were killed with several others wounded and their logistic stores destroyed.
He said UPDF had launched air and artillery strikes in a joint operation with DR Congo’s army (FARDC) on December 22 against the Allied Democratic Forces((ADF), a group that the UN says killed 14 of its troops from Tanzania earlier this month.
“It has been established that eight enemy camps were successfully attacked. These were ADF historical strongholds in eastern DRC,” Mr Karemire said.
Mr Karemire also stressed that no Ugandan infantry troops were deployed in DR Congo nor suffered any casualties in the operation.
However experts have questioned on how the UPDF has been able to verify that 100 rebels were killed if it didn’t have stationed troops in DRC .
