Chagga finally free after speending a week in jail at Butuntumula Prison in Luwero

A week ago, we reported about how veteran singer Chagga Geoffrey had been sent to Butuntumula Prison in Luwero over failure to pay over UGX 19m which was being demanded by a music promoter for failure of the Goodlyfe to perform at a show they had been booked for. The singer turned manager is now a free man.

Chagga, real names Geoffrey Kyagambidwa spent almost a week in jail for failure to pay UGX 19m debt. It is said that the money had been paid to Chagga as the manager of the Goodlyfe music camp and Paul Kaliba, the promoter, wanted Chagga to avail Weasel for a performance in Luwero.

Weasel however did not turn up on the date of the show and Chagga as well was nowhere to be seen.It is to that effect that the music promoter took the matters to court who ordered the arrest of Chagga and he was later thrown in jail when he could not raise the money in debt.

Chagga, through family and friends, managed to raise about UGX 8m of the UGX 19m demanded to help convince the promoter to release him from jail as he looks for the rest of the money. Paul Kaliba agreed too their request and influenced the release of Chagga.
