Opposition MPs Give Police Up To Thursday To Let Nambooze go for treatment abroad

Members of parliament, Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda (Kira Municipality), Moses Kasibante (Rubaga North), Allan Ssewanyana (Makindye West) and Johnson Muyanja Ssenyonga have given police up to Thursday to let Mukono municipality MP Betty Nambooze go for treatment abroad.

Nambooze, who is currently receiving treatment at Kiruddu Hospital was arrested over allegations of computer misuse after her comments on her social media platforms following the assassination of former member of parliament for Arua Municipality Ibrahim Abiriga.

Today, the four MPs stormed Kiruddu hospital to get Nambooze out but their efforts were frustrated by police. The officers told them that they could only let Nambooze out of hospital on orders of the CID Director AIGP Grace Akullo. They later tried to talk to Akullo and her Deputy Godfrey Musana in vain.

“We have given them an ultimatum of up to Thursday or else we shall ask the public to join us and storm Kiruddu hospital. Mulago wrote to police, they have refused to let her go for further treatment,” the group leader Semujju told journalists.
