Manchester United Names Harry Maguire As Head Captain

By Website writer; News reaching our news room is that Harry Maguire has been named Manchester United’s new captain, replacing Ashley Young.

United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirmed the news in an interview with Sky Sports’ Geoff Shreeves on Friday morning.

Young, who is set to join Inter Milan, had been captain since replacing Antonio Valencia in the summer.

Solskjaer has not wasted any time in announcing a replacement for the departing Young.

“He’s 35 in the summer and if he gets a two-year contract somewhere it’s up to him to take that,” said Solskjaer.

“We weren’t ready to offer that. He’s been a good servant for the club, he’s been captain, he’s won trophies. But we’ve got players coming through.”

Manchester United Football Club have been heading into a different direction under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Slowly but surely, the Baby Faced Assassin is moulding this squad into one that fits his image.

With Ashley Young heading to Inter Milan, it was time for the Norweigan to name a new Red Devils captain. The choice? Harry Maguire.

The Red Devils’ £80million man has worn the armband on several occasions this term, and Solskjaer’s reasoning behind why was short, simple, but 100% true.

“Everything about him tells me is a leader. Harry will keep wearing the armband now.” Solskjaer told reporters.

Maguire is undoubtedly a leader. I’m always a fan of having a centre-half as the captain as he’s in the perfect position to instruct (and shout at!) others if needs be.

The former Leicester City man is a warrior, he’s tough, he has the right mentality and he’s more than deserving of this prestigious honor. Now let’s hope Maguire can kick it up another notch and lead by example.

We shall keep you posted
