Mityana lawmaker, Francis Zaake Butebi, is poised to resume his duties as a Parliamentary Commissioner, stepping into the shoes of Honorable Mathias Mpuuga, as announced by the opposition National Unity Platform (NUP) on Friday.
Zaake, who previously served in the commission until his suspension in October 2022 due to misconduct, expressed his gratitude towards his party for the opportunity to return to this crucial role.
“Grateful to his party,” Zaake stated, emphasizing his appreciation for the endorsement of his nomination by the National Executive Committee (NEC) of NUP.
“I want to assure everyone that I will serve with utmost dedication, never bringing shame to our party, but always upholding our core values. Together, let’s make a difference and represent the people with integrity!”
The decision to replace Mpuuga, who is also the Vice President of NUP, stemmed from allegations of soliciting funds from the parliamentary commission, an accusation vehemently denied by the Nyendo-Mukungwe MP. Despite this, Mpuuga was asked by the NUP to provide a written defense and show cause for his continued role within the commission.
Zaake Butebi’s return signals a new chapter characterized by dedication and integrity, as he prepares to assume his responsibilities within the Parliamentary Commission, committed to serving the people with honor and diligence.
