B2C Scoop 2019 AFRIMA Award Nomination

By Wycliff G; The All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) is back and we are yet to witness the 6th edition of these prestigious awards this year.

In the 6th AFRIMA Continental Nominees list that was released by the International Committee of the All Africa Music Awards on Sunday 25th August, sensational Ugandan music trio Born 2 Conquer (B2C) Kampala boys have secured a big place in the Best Group or Band category.

B2C Kampala Boyz will be battling for votes with Charly Na Nina (Rwanda), Dream Boyz & Nelson Freitas (Angola), Jano Band (Ethiopia), Kika Troupe (Uganda), Mi Casa (South Africa), Sauti Sol (Kenya), Toofan (Togo), WCB Wasafi (Tanzania).

The ‘Gutujja’ singers have since expressed their triumphalism as they shared the good news with their fans on social media.

“B2C the Kampala boys representing Uganda very well kindly vote for us in the Afrima awards as the best Group or Band,” they stated on their social media

Public voting in the awards will commence September 1, 2019, and closes on midnight November 22.

South Africa’s prolific rapper and producer Nasty C; African music definitive artiste, Davido; Nigeria’s contemporary music talent, Burna Boy; and Northern Africa’s brilliant showman, Tamer Hosny have so far scored high nominations on the 6th AFRIMA Continental Nominees’.

The Nominees’ List comprising the 26 Continental Award Categories is coming few days after the 6th AFRIMA Regional Categories comprising the Best Female and Best Male artistes within each of the five African regions were unveiled by the International Jury of AFRIMA during the World Media Conference held in Lagos, Nigeria on August 14, 2019.

This comes in a few days after fellow Ugandan artists also landing nominations in the same awards; Irene Namatovu (Best African Dance or Choreography and Best Artiste, Duo or Group in African Traditional) Double S (Best African Rapper/Lyricist), Afrie (Best Female Artiste, Duo or Group in African Inspirational Music).

The 2019 main awards event scheduled for November 20 to November 23 will span four days packed with activities which include the 6th AFRIMA Welcome Soiree, the 6th Africa Music Business Summit (AMBS), the 6th AFRIMA Music Village, a Guided Tour of the Host City, the exclusive 6th AFRIMA Nominees Party and the 6th AFRIMA Main Awards ceremony.
