Sudhir attained the jab on Thursday, March 26, 2021, from UMC Victoria Hospital in Bukoto, which is one of the designated vaccination sites in Kampala.
Being 65years-old Sudhir falls under the category of people aged over 50, who are intensively prone to contracting the COVID-19.
According to the health ministry, Uganda is rolling out free COVID-19 vaccination ‘in a staggered manner’, which started with health workers.
The ministry is urging people to ‘ensure that you get the vaccine when your time comes’, offering assurance that the vaccine is ‘safe and effective.
Starting on March 21, the health ministry has been offering free vaccination but due to the limited number of the AstraZeneca vaccine, the inoculation has started with the people who are most at risk of contracting COVID-19.
They are health workers, teachers, security personnel, people aged over 50, people aged 18-50 with underlying conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, and heart, kidney or liver disease.
In all the districts outside of Kampala, the health ministry says COVID-19 vaccination is taking place at designated health centre IIIs, IVs, general hospitals and regional referral hospitals.
