By Website Writer; H.E YK Museveni’s Press Secretary Don Innocent Wanyama was announced the new Managing Director/CEO of Vision Group.
Mr. Wanyama assumes the new seat replacing Mr. Robert Kabushenga, who had steered it for over 15 years.
Don was unveiled by Vision Group board chairman, Patrick Ayota in a board meeting that was attended by Kabushenga on Tuesday.
Non-Executive Directors Moses Mwase, Robinah Kaitiritimba Kitungi, and David Mafabi together with Deputy CEO, Gervase Ndyanabo also attended the meeting.
In his first speech, Don expressed his gratitude towards Vision Group’s chairman and board for having trusted him to lead the country’s largest media house.
“The chairman and the board, I want to thank you for this appointment. It is a show of faith of course, but also an endorsement,” Don Wanyama said.
He was also humbled by the mere fact that the company gave him chance to venture into journalism whilst being a teacher by profession.
“They placed faith in a young teacher then, who had just come out of university. I am glad that 15 years down the road, there is still faith in me,” he added.
“Over those years and I am getting back into this institution when a lot has changed.”
Former Vision Group CEO, Robert Mr. Kabushenga is said to have been forced to resign on President Museveni’s directive after a mammoth of complaints piling up with the group.
Liable sources reveal that Wanyama’s endorsed by President Museveni for the post.
Don Wanyama’s career;
Wanyama worked at New Vision as sub-editor before crossing over to Monitor Publications, where he worked as Chief Sub-Editor, before being promoted to Managing Editor.
Later, he returned to Vision Group as Special Projects Editor, before being picked by President Yoweri Museveni to work as a special media assistant at the Office of the National Chairman of the ruling National Resistance Movement.
The President later appointed Wanyama to become his Senior Press Secretary, the position he holds currently.
It confirmed that Wanyama will take over office on May 1, 2021.
