Renowned American actor ‘Forest Whitaker’ is in Uganda for his second time in thirteen years’ time.
He landed in Uganda on Monday afternoon, and warmly welcomed by the Whitaker Peace and Development Initiative (WPDI) representatives with whom he immediately travelled with to Northern Uganda where he spent his night.
In Northern Uganda, he visited the WPDI Community Learning Center and addressing youth peacemakers as he looks forward to helping societies impacted by destructive conflicts to transform into safer and more prosperous communities.
This is the WPDI Primary mission in different African countries for year now.
Whitaker seems already joyfully overwhelmed with Ugandan culture and hospitality as he posts videos getting busy with the Acholi dance.
Forest Steven Whitaker III, 58, is an American actor, producer, and director whose performance as former Ugandan dictator President Iddi Amin Dada in the 2006 film The Last King of Scotland earned him great popularity.
He also earned reputation for intensive character study work in films such as; Bird, The Crying Game, Platoon, Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai, The Great Debaters, The Butler and Arrival. He has also appeared in blockbusters such as Rogue One: A Star Wars Story as Saw Gerrera and Black Panther as Zuri.
Whitaker has won Academy Award, BAFTA Award, Golden Globe Award, National Board of Review Award, Screen Actors Guild Award, and various critics groups’ awards for a lead acting performance.
