By Website writer: It has often been a tradition every year for singer cum politician Robert Kyagulanyi aka ‘Bobi Wine’ to hold a special concert every Easter Monday at his own venue ‘One Love Beach Busabala.
This time round, things seem to have over turned and probably it would be a second leg of the recent 2018 Boxing day brawl between Bobi Wine’s fans and Police.
Speaking to the media today, the singer has revealed how the government is intending to dishevel his concerts this Easter season as it did during the 2018 festive season.
“The government of Uganda though its Police has continued to restrict our performances, infringing on our financial rights and freedom of expression as citizens even in this Easter season. About a month ago, we officially wrote to the Uganda Police informing them about of intension to organize a concert at One Love Beach Busabala, a concert that has been happening for the last 10years.
We also informed them about our planned extra concerts in districts such as Arua, Gulu and Lira. Following the Uganda Public order management, we disclosed all our concert preparations and required materials in our letters requesting for its security but all seem hopeless. At the moment, the Uganda Police has refrained from replying to the concert promoters yet its clocking hurriedly towards the concert dates. However, we have decided to go-on with our preparations and I would like to confirm the nation that our concerts will be held with the first one on Easter Monday under all circumstances,” he said.
The acclaimed concert is dubbed ‘Engule Kyarenga’ and is being organized by two prominent promoters Abitex and Bajjo Promotions.
