At the Kabaka’s 64th Birthday celebrations held at Ndejje Secondary School in Luweero district, Mesach was honored with a ‘Sir’ title adding to his real names and he is a full knight with names of ‘Sir Mesach Semakula’ with effective.

He follows fellow singer Sir Mathias Walukaga who was also given the same title by the Kabaka in 2013.

Among the songs that made the self-proclaimed ‘Golden Papa’ qualify for the award from the Kabaka include; Njagala Nyimbire Omutanda, Njagala kukutegeza, among others.

Sir is a formal English honorific address for men, derived from Sire in the High Middle Ages. Traditionally, as governed by law and custom, Sir is used for men titled knights i.e. of orders of chivalry, and later also to baronets, and other offices.

As the female equivalent for knighthood is damehood, the suo jure female equivalent term is typically Dame.

The wife of a knight or baronet tends to be addressed Lady, although a few exceptions and interchanges of these uses exist.

Congratulations Mesach Semakula!
