Uganda Cranes Back In Training After U$D 6000 Whopping Cash From FUFA

The Uganda national soccer team ‘Uganda Cranes’ finally ended their sit down strike that started on Tuesday due to a payment dispute with soccer governing body ‘FUFA’.

In a crisis meeting held yesterday by the Federation of Uganda Football Associations executive board in Mengo, it was resolved that every player gets U$D 6000 as the last 16 qualification prize promised earlier by FUFA.

FUFA immediately communicated with Sports state minister Hon. Charles Bakkalubindi who is in Cairo to communicate the FUFA meeting outcome to the players resolving their strike over emoluments.

Bakabulindi held a three-hour long meeting with players and by them returning to training on Wednesday night, it indicated they had complied with an offer of $6000 from FUFA for qualifying to the Nations Cup last 16.

Uganda Cranes held their training on Wednesday night at Arab Contractors Stadium in Cairo.

Considering the magnitude and importance of the event of Uganda Cranes match against the Teranga Lions of Senegal, the interests of the Nation, Government, the Sponsors, and the gallant fans, FUFA has agreed to pay 6,000 USD over and above the agreed terms in the Code of Conduct and that matters of finances will not be discussed until the end of Uganda Cranes participation in the tournament. This position has been duly communicated to the Players,” FUFA said.

Cranes players boycotted Tuesday training claiming they have not been paid what is due to them. FUFA issued a statement later saying they have already been paid sh55million to each player, as agreed, in contracts before the tournament started.

The U$D 6000 offer is out of the U$D 10000 off contract prize FUFA promised the team earlier if they qualified for the African Cup of Nations Cup last 16 tie.
