Renowned singer and songwriter Blackskin was put behind bars following his arrest over accusations surrounding his song titled ‘Gyenvudde’ originally done by musician Big Size Bebe Cool.
Earlier this month, Blackskin, real name Frederick Ssenyonga, revealed how he was not paid by Bebe Cool after writing for him a new song dubbed “Gyenvudde”. He vowed to send Bebe into early retirement, if he refuses to pay him, arguing that he cannot make his own music, yet he doesn’t want to pay content creators.
The controversial songwriter went ahead to record his own version of the song, and released it a few weeks later, as a way of sabotaging the progress of Bebe Cool’s song, and damaging his reputation as a long serving artist.
Blackskin’s song has been receiving relatively good airplay majorly due to the controversy surrounding it, and this has obviously hit hard at Bebe Cool.
However, on Saturday Blackskin was arrested after Bebe Cool put in a defamation complaint, and alleged that Blackskin is using him to make a come back in the music industry.
Blacskin’s close friend and associate, producer Eno Beats confirmed the news through his Facebook page early on Sunday morning, and hoped that justice prevails. As of now, Blackskin is still in police custody, as investigations into the his case continue.
Eno Beats revealed that Blackskin had been arrested on Saturday at around 4pm in Makindye, and detained at Jinja Road Police Station over matters to do with the ‘Gyenvudde’ song, following weeks of media controversies.
Previously, Blackskin wrote Bebe Cool’s Katono song which turned out to be an instant hit, and the two have been working together closely, until of recent when they fell out due to money issues.
