We plan on compensating those who have been victims of the scam. One of our agents under the umbrella organisation by the trade name Steel Logistics Na-go-ya ran into undisclosed challenges with the mother company in Japan, He is now under audit,” Marvin Ayebale, one of the directors, said.

Ayebale however said those who claim to have been fleeced by the Beforward agent will have to present evidence which is proof of payment before being compensated.

Whoever was a victim will have to present proof of payment. We have received a lot of fictitious claims. All these will have to be proved beyond reasonable doubt,” he said.

He also assured the public that Beforward is still in business in Uganda and that the company will do anything possible to repair the damaged relationship with its customers in the country.

The assurance comes on the back of a police probe that has seen several people complain that vehicle orders worth as much as sh1.5b have not been delivered.

A number of people have claimed to have lost money after their car orders were not fulfilled. The total amount lost, according to one of the victims, is $500,000.
