Tanzanian Hip hop artiste Darassa, born Shariff Thabeet, who is currently riding high on the charts with his hit song Muziki featuring compatriot Ben Pol, has confessed that in the past, sought services of a witch doctor due to personal problems.
In 2016 popular Tanzanian singer Diamond Platnumz was also accused of using witchcraft to popularise his music.Ommy Dimpoz who was once upon a time, good friends with Diamond, revealed the allegations saying that he (Diamond) wanted to introduce Ommy to his witch doctor but he did not give in to Diamond’s persuasion.
Witch doctor caught performing voodoo to bring Darassa down. Darassa said; “I sought services of a witchdoctor in the past. I come from a Swahili setting, and a lot of things do happen there. However, my visit to the witch doctor was not inspired by a desire to grow big in my music, it was inspired by personal problems. What the witch doctor wanted me to do discouraged me from going on with my pursuit,” Darassa said in an interview with a top Tanzanian based radio station.”
